Miss Saigon To Open At Beatrix Theater in Utrecht September 23

The new Dutch language production of Miss Saigon, which will open on September 23rd at the Beatrix Theater in Utrecht, will feature a new song written by Claude-Michel Schonberg, Richard Maltby Jr. and Alain Boublil. The new song has been translated into Dutch by Seth Gaaikema and is called 'Toch Nog'.

The song, original English title 'Maybe', will replace 'Her or Me', which is sung by the character Ellen in the hotel room scene in the second act. In the new Dutch production Ellen is played by Brigitte Heitzer. Brigitte won her first lead role in a television audition show for the title role in Evita and has since been seen in the musicals All Shook Up and Petticoat. Brigitte Heitzer's thrilled with her new song "I'ts so special that I, as the first Ellen in the world, am allowed to sing this song. It's an amazing song and it really gives an extra dimension to the role of Ellen."

Miss Saigon will play the Beatrix Theater in Utrecht for a limited run of six months. The cast features Na-Young Jeon as Kim, Ton Sieben as Chris, Stanley Burleson as the Engineer, Edwin Jonker as John and Kok-Hwa Lie as Thuy. The new production is directed by Laurence Connor.

Miss Saigon originally opened in The Netherlands at the Circustheater in Scheveningen on November 24, 1996. It ran for 908 performances, closing on July 4th, 1999.
